Government's view of the economy could be summed up in the following three short phrases. If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.Ronald Wilson Reagan (1911 – 2004) was the 40th President of the United States and the 33rd Governor of California. Reagan was a prominent New Deal Democrat until switching parties in 1962, becoming a Republican. Reagan began his presidency by introducing fiscally-expansive economic policies, dubbed "Reaganomics." Reagan instituted his policy of "peace through strength" in an arms race with the Soviet Union. He rejected détente and confronted Communism, famously portraying the USSR as an "Evil Empire" and supporting anti-Communist movements worldwide.
